Create lasting memories with the family at one of the very first cottages on Papakeechie Lake. Relax on the deck taking in the graceful swans that reside here, go for a peaceful ride in the kayaks or take a stroll around our no motor lake on our peddle boat and even swim right off of the pier. Grab the smores and have a blast telling stories around the camp fire. The kids will feel like they're camping, especially sleeping in the loft! Cozy up on chilly nights next to the indoor fireplace.

Good to know

The kitchen, dining, bath and laundry areas are on the lower level with sliding glass doors all along the front to take in beautiful sunsets. At the top of the stairs, you will find the living room with fireplace, games and there is a full sized bed placed in the back corner. Off of the living room are 2 bedrooms. You have to go through the bedroom with a queen bed to get to the other bedroom with a twin. We have a peddle boat, row boat, kayaks and a swim raft that you are more than welcome to use. There is room to park one vehicle at the bottom of our shared drive. Please do not block the drive as this is the same way the neighbors exit.

Other Details to Note

This is quite a few steps down from the parking area. The lake is down just a little farther from the cottage.

The Red Cottage was the perfect weekend get away / guys trip. 6 of us highschool friends got together for a reunion and had a blast. The deck is the ultimate hang out. The grill made for a great BBQ for dinner one night. The kayaks and tubs provided plenty to do. We fished and swam daily. The host Jo was extremely friendly, responsive and flexible on our check in / out time which was much appreciated. We will 100% be back. Only gripe was 2 thin mattresses in the loft for beds which were slightly uncomfortable.

We had a great time at the Red Cottage. The pictures definitely didn't give the full view of the charming cottage feel. We felt right at home right away. The layout of the house was quirky, in a great way, and there was plenty of room for my family of four to spread out. My kids loved the loft, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The house was great, but the best part of the stay was the lake. We enjoyed using the paddle boat and kayaks, and we rented two stand up paddle boards from Pedals & Paddles in nearby North Webster (they deliver!). Because the lake doesn't allow motortized boats, it was perfect for paddling around. The deck, dock, and area surrounding the dock are well maintained. I was nervous about the trek from the house/deck to the dock/water (and vice versa) given the comments about how hard the climb up the stairs is from previous reviews, but we didn't have any trouble with the 33 step climb. We'd definitley stay at this cabin again!!

We stayed here for our 5 year wedding anniversary and our first trip without kids in over 4 years. Our stay was so peaceful and relaxing with the beautiful views and access to the lake. Would definitely return for another trip down the road.
